Brief info

Swami Bhajanananda Sannyasi of the Bharat Sevashram Sangha is a direct disciple of Param Pujya Srimat Swami Purnanandaji Maharaj.

Swamiji Joined the Sangha at the Guyana Sevashram Sangha in 1962. He attended St Patrick’s Anglican school in Rose Hall Canje, Berbice, Guyana and was successful at the school leaving Exam. He then attended the Berbice Educational Institute in New Amsterdam where he wrote the Junior and Senior Cambridge Examinations. After which he joined the Ashram.

Swamiji came into contact with the Ashram when he visited the Ashram for Maghi Purnima and Shiva Ratri celebrations in 1961. There for the first time he saw Brahmacharies in their orange robe and was very inspired to become one like them.

Swamiji was initiated as a Brahmachari with eleven other young men on Saturday 13th February 1966. Leaders from all major Hindu organizations and Governor Sir Richard Luyt were invited to the grand initiation ceremony.

At the Hindu College established by Guruji in 1956, Swamiji taught many subjects and was later settled in teaching English Literature as the Ashram was experiencing difficulties for experienced and committed teachers. He taught for the College of Preceptors Examination and General Certificate of Education (G.C.E)

In 1982 Swamijji was transferred to the Trinidad Sevashram Sangha to take charge of the Trinidad branch.

In 1987 Swami Bhajanananda. was then deputed by the Head Office of Kolkata, India to take charge of the Canadian branch of the Bharat Sevashram Sangha.

He lived at the lotus feet of his Guru late Param Pujya Srimat Swami Purnanandaji Maharaj for more than 25 years.
